Tata
Consultancy Services has selected AVCE as one of the few colleges in Tamilnadu
and only college from Kanyakumari district to attend its prestigious 2 days
Faculty Development Programme (FDP). This event was conducted in the in the
state of the art TCS facility at Siruseri, Chennai.
Five
staff members from AVCE attended the training program and gained a good
exposure on cutting edge technologies such as Cloud computing, Digital Learning
and Artificial Intelligence.
The
first day consisted of a detailed session on Latest and emerging technologies
by Mr. Ravisankar, Business and Financial services. He provided a
good perspective of cloud technology and its wide impact on software
development and databases. He insisted the faculty members to get exposed to
the advancements in cloud computing and make the young generation understand
these technologies.
Three sessions were held on the second
day. The first session was conducted by Dr. Manikandan Nagaraj of TCS on the
topic of digital learning. The session threw limelight on how the digital
technologies should be used effectively for Knowledge sharing in this digital
era. He explained that the cognitive domain, affective domain and Psycho-motor
domain of education will be clearly visualized in digital learning.
The
second session by Dr. Deepak Khemani of IIT, Madras threw light on artificial
Intelligence and its advancements. The Third session by Dr. Umanand of IISC,
Bangalore was specific about the NPTEL Programme offered and he insisted all
the Institutions to take up the NPTEL courses.
He had a special mention for Annai
Vailankanni college of Engineering(AVCE) for being a nodal center for NPTEL
courses.
The overall experience at TCS office was
mind blowing where “Passion meets Hard work” and the entire programme was a
great experience for all the faculty members.
