Guest Lecture on "Biomechanics"

 28th July 2026

A Guest Lecture on Biomechanics was organized with the primary objective of introducing students to the fundamental principles of biomechanics and demonstrating how biomechanical concepts connect engineering principles with human physiology. The session aimed to provide students with both theoretical knowledge and practical, research-oriented insights into the interdisciplinary field of biomechanics.

The lecture commenced at 10.00 AM with a formal welcome and introduction of the resource person, Dr. Amala Mithin Minther Singh, Vice Principal, AVCE. The session covered important concepts including musculoskeletal forces, joint kinematics, and gait analysis, with particular emphasis on their applications in the design of prosthetics and rehabilitation devices. The resource person effectively explained complex concepts through illustrative diagrams, practical examples, and real-life case discussions, enabling students to relate theoretical principles to engineering applications.

The interactive nature of the session encouraged active student participation and provided an opportunity to clarify concepts through discussion. The program concluded at 12.30 PM with an interactive question-and-answer session, followed by a formal vote of thanks. A total of 73 students participated in the lecture and benefited from the expert guidance and insights shared during the session.

The Guest Lecture on Biomechanics successfully achieved its intended objectives by strengthening students’ understanding of musculoskeletal mechanics and its applications in prosthetics and rehabilitation engineering. The program also encouraged students to develop an interest in interdisciplinary learning, innovation, and research. Overall, the session was informative, engaging, and academically valuable, inspiring students to explore future opportunities in Biomedical Engineering and related research areas.
